MIGA
211 S. 15th St., 215-732-1616

Currently soft-open, MIGA is a white-tablecloth Korean barbecue joint with tradition in mind. They're waiting on their liquor license and city approval for table-top barbecue grills, so they're working off a limited menu — for now, check out meatiness like galbi (short rib) and bulgogi (rib-eye) in addition to dolsot bibimbap (hot stone bowl) and banchan, or complimentary starters (above). Once they get booze clearance, they'll be mixing cocktails with soju. Current hours: lunch Mon.-Fri., 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sat., noon to 3 p.m.; dinner Mon.- Thu., 5-10 p.m. and Fri.-Sat., 5 to 11 p.m. More on Meal Ticket.

Max Brenner, Chocolate by the Bald Man
1500 Walnut St., 215-344-8150, maxbrenner.com

The 28th location of this Israeli-based choco wonderland debuted in Philly on Wednesday. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, this 111-seat location, named for its founder/face, does savory salads, sandwiches, larger plates and cocktails. And, of course, the sweets selection is elaborate and gloriously overwhelming — there are waffles and crêpes, shareable fondues (including one with churros, yessssss), molten chocolate cakes, ice cream-y goodness (gooey marshmallow fudge brownie Fluffernutter ice cream sandwich!) and more. If you know someone who says they're obsessed with chocolate, take them here and make them prove it. More on Meal Ticket.

Brauhaus Schmitz
718 South St., 267-909-8814, brauhausschmitz.com

Kelly Schmitz and Doug Hager are the couple behind this 20-tap Teutonic drinker's haven, a lovely bilevel space where the female servers are decked out in traditional dirndls. (Male servers are not required to wear lederhosen, which we think is a wise choice.) German beers like crazy (Jever, Reissdorf, Spaten, Paulaner, etc.) as well as the Hausbrau, a crisp lager brewed for the bar by Stoudt's. Chef Jeremy Nolen does smoked fish, wursts, schnitzels and sides likes potato pancakes, red cabbage and kraut. They're open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. More on Meal Ticket.
